Team Hallowell Does Dempsey Challenge 2013 10K

Team Hallowell Does Dempsey Challenge 2013 10K – It was a day that started early. If you were in the 5 and 10K staging area, you are well aware of the energy and the throng of fundraisers! This is where the wild things live!

Eager to get up and go like horses at the gate, the brightly dressed runners were chomping at the bit as they received thier final words of encouragement from the event’s founder Patrick Dempsey.

Runners arrive early, register, prepare, gather, and go. The morning’s ritual moves from the starting line to the open road in Lewiston. It’s alive and Team Hallowell looks forward to every minute of engagement, interaction, salvation, sweat, and focus. Please enjoy this in-depth photo essay at your leisure and get to know some of Team (David) Hallowell’s crew.

i-Rish for a Cure Team Hallowell Dempsey Challenge

Naming the i-Rish for a Cure® Event

Team Hallowell’s i-Rish for a Cure® event is the brain child of our fearless leader Judy! We had a meeting one night, another last minute thing, for about an hour and planned this cool event for a really great venue. We were stumped on one thing though, the name for the event.

The event had been almost completely planned in the course of an hour. It was a typical casual meeting for the Team Hallowell crew, jeans and a t-shirt, pajamas, business atire… Anyway, while planning the event we’d keep throwing out potential names for the event. Some were worth a second or even third chance and others were just not going to work at all. Just as we were getting ready to throw in the towel, Judy said something like, “hey, I think I’ve got it! How about I-Rish for a Cure. You know, I Wish For a Cure.”

Immediately the team gave a nod and adopted the name. We think it’s a good name for a good cause and we hope to see you at our next one! Enjoy a few highlights from our first one in 2013.

Dempsey Challenge is a rewarding experience!

Our first year of participation in the Dempsey Challenge proved to be more rewarding than we could have imagined!

Tech support, fundraising advice, spiritual support, new friendships, great exercise, Elvis, and too many more to name were all part of the first year blur. The event came and went. It was so well organized that all participants were able to just show up and rally!

At the start line, it’s time to get excited and pump up the volume. The majority of Team Hallowell was there first thing in the morning and got a chance to hear Patrick Dempsey speak about some of the event cornerstones.

hopeThe event starts, we walk, cry, run. We finish. We eat drink and be merry at the famous finish line. Live music, food, drink, and lots of super people, are the secret sauce that’ll keep you coming back!

Thanks for being with us on our journey leading up to the Dempsey Challenge 2013! We are planning events now and look forward to seeing you all very soon!

2012 was a watershed year for us all here at Team Hallowell. Emotions run high, team runs thick, and action is the key.

See you for Dempsey Challenge 2013
